To book a show at Bull Run you should consider what we have to offer you and what you have to offer us. Are we the right venue for your style of music and are we located where you have a fan base or can build one? Will you have enough of a draw to make the event worth it for us and for yourself. We realize that you don't want to play to an empty room, and we don't want to pay for an empty room. It's better all around to be realistic about your ability to draw. Then we can consider alternative options.

We have two performance spaces. One holds 75 (Ballroom) and the other holds 300 (Sawtelle Room). For a feature spot in the Sawtelle Room you would need to draw a minimum of 75 people and come in for a percentage of the door. For a feature spot in the Ballroom you need to draw a minimum of 20 people and come in for a percentage of the door. Otherwise no one goes home happy. If you’re sure you can draw 90 people or more (Sawtelle), or 30 people or more (Ballroom), we can start to talk about a guarantee versus a percentage of the door.

Or, you could come in as an opener for a band with a larger draw. As an opener you would not be expected to draw as much, but could benefit from opening for someone with a greater draw to increase your fans in the area. The opening spots are normally 25 - 30 minutes in length. If you bring your email list you can begin to increase your potential to draw at Bull Run.

Or, we could possibly work out a split bill type of deal where yourself and another artist or band with equal draw power share the night. You would also split the percentage of the door but it would double your chances of filling the room. And hopefully both acts would gain new fans from each others fans.

Another possibility is to contact GS Picard at: gstarp@aol.com   She runs our very successful Bull Run Independent SoundStage on Thursday Nights, and our once a month Open Mic Night. If GS decides to give you a shot at a Soundstage night, it's a great way to prove that you can build a fan base in the area.

After you have thought all of this through and have come up with a reasonable game plan for how we might have a successful night, send me an email at:

If it seems like we might be able to work something out, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. PLEASE be patient. I really get a lot of emails asking to play and it just takes time to go through them all and give them the consideration that they deserve. If, after 3 or 4 weeks you still haven't heard from me, you can send me a little reminder. I will try to consider all requests.

Have Your CD Release Party
at The Bull Run

Do you have a CD coming out soon?

The Bull Run Restaurant offers musicians an opportunity to host their own CD Release Party in a professional environment with lights, stage, sound, merch space and technicians. We offer dinner seating in one of our two music rooms which hold 75 and 300 people respectively.
What Do We Mean by A CD Release Party?
A CD Release is an EVENT that The Bull Run Restaurant will coordinate with you, the performer. We provide a well-publicized celebration that will help you kick off your recording release. What it is NOT is a regular concert. The contract structure is different as are the responsibilities of the performer. Because this is not a concert, and The Bull Run Restaurant is taking a chance on the success of your event to attract an audience, we are not offering a minimum monetary guarantee to the performer or band. However, we want it to be fair for both parties, so we are offering 65 percent of the door taken in for the concert if you use our sound engineers and PA. If you would rather bring in your own sound system and engineers, we will give you 80 percent of the door. Door price should be arranged in advance with our booking agent. We expect the performer to actively participate in getting an audience to their show, thus having a direct role in their own financial success for the evening.
CD Release Parties are structured and often hosted by the performer. There are many possibilities for how to make this a special night. Please discuss all arrangements with our booking agent before the show.
Our CD Release Party Package includes:
A stage in one of our performance rooms.
The option of professional sound management.
A percentage of the ticket sales.
8 complimentary passes for friends and family of the performers.
Table space to sell your CD's and merchandise.
Farm-to-table Concert Menu options and Cash Bar with wait staff.
A separate room can be arranged for a private pre-concert press party with a choice of menu options and cash bar.
Assistance with publicity, including promotion on our website and weekly e-newsletter blast.
And... if the performance is well-received by the audience, we might invite you to open for a main act, or to be a headliner! (no guarantee, however.)

How to Request a Booking for your CD Release Party

To request a booking, the performer must first contact our booking agent and provide either an electronic press kit (epk) or physical CD and bio info.
He will discuss all aspects of the show with you and help you make decisions about when and how the show will be structured. Are you going to do two sets with an intermission, or one long set? Please let our booking agent know so he and the crew are well prepared. Also, please provide stage plot and sound requirements if you are using our sound. 

Once we decide on a game plan you must provide photos, the CD (if it's ready) and any posters or other PR material. We will send you our media list that you can work with to announce your show to the press. 

If you'd like to, we can arrange a "pre-concert party" to have friends and family, other musicians and the press celebrate this special event with you. Menus and costs must be arranged in advance. We can provide appetizers, entrees, desserts, cakes, decorations, etc. For information on menu options, check out our web site at www.bullrunrestaurant.com.

We encourage you to send out your own announcement of the concert to friends and family. We also hope that you will list the event on your web site if you have one, and set up a link to the Bull Run's website. If you do have a web site, please send the URL to the booking agent so we can include it on our site listings. We also expect that if the you have email and snail mail lists that you will send an announcement out to promote your event.

We will provide a table, but you should arrange for someone to sell your merchandise for you. If you need us to man the table there will be an additional fee.

You must also agree to not have another CD Release Party within the area prior to this event. This, of course, maximizes your audience for the evening.

You may offer up to 8 complimentary passes to friends and family, by giving a list of names of the recipients to The Bull Run Restaurant prior to the concert.

Based on pre-sales, The Bull Run Restaurant will determine the function room to be scheduled for the concert. The Bull Run reserves the right to make the final decision. We know that the room location will affect the sound crew's equipment needs, so we will determine the room in advance. But the performer's sound crew must be in touch with The Bull Run Restaurant about the final decision as late as the day of the show. The biggest factor in determining which room will hold the concert is pre-sales. Again, the room decision is entirely up to The Bull Run Restaurant, and all decisions are final.

Special lighting options must be discussed with the booking agent prior to the show. Smoke machines and pyrotechnics of any kind are strictly forbidden.

You are free to record the concert if you want to but you must provide your own engineer and recording equipment. Our engineers can also record you for an addional fee. This should be pre-arranged before the show.

We will handle the ticket reservations, and sell additional tickets at our outlets (including our website, at our front desk, & by telephone), as listed on our web site. Other arrangements (like selling your own tickets) can be arranged with our agent. If you do sell your own tickets, you must update us daily on the ticket count to assure that we don't oversell the show.

We will provide guests with for-sale menu options before the concert, and at intermission. The performer is not to bring their own food or drink unless prearranged with The Bull Run Restaurant.

If the concert is viewed as a success, we may offer at a later date an opening or main act concert date to the performer. This is not a guarantee.

Most of all, this should be an exciting and fun-filled night for all involved and we will make every effort to ensure your success. Please don't be afraid to communicate to us what your needs and expectations are. We respect musicians and want you to have a successful night!
