Stephanie Corby to Perform Friday, November 16
at the Bull Run Restaurant, Shirley MA

Shirley, MA, Nov. 8 - Captivating performer and Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist Stephanie Corby marks the release of her new CD, Fireworks in March with a special performance at the historic Bull Run Restaurant on Friday, November 16, 8pm.
Stephanie Corby possesses a rich, powerful voice that transcends the borders of musical style. This soulful songstress has successfully fused her classical, jazz and blues backgrounds into a distinct R&B-flavored acoustic sound.
"...she has the kind of voice that makes the waters part; loud, sweet, and soulful." --Ellis Paul.
Born in Ashburnham, MA, Corby began singing and playing music at the age of eight. Throughout high school and college Stephanie concentrated her studies on classical and jazz vocal technique. Performing in prestigious collegiate classical vocal ensembles as a soloist she acquired her first taste for the stage. All the while, Corby jumped at any opportunity to "rip out an Aretha tune" or throw herself into a gut-wrenching blues classic.
In 1990, Corby took the stage as a lead blues woman fronting the nine-piece band "Biggs Band" and built a deep repertoire of blues and R&B classics. Four years later, Corby left the band and jumped into Boston's competitive singer/songwriter circuit as a solo artist. She has since recorded and/or performed with artists such as Ellis Paul, Greg Greenway, Kevin So, Chris Rosser, Tom Prasada Rao, Jimmy LaFave, Slaid Cleaves, Christopher Williams, Rachel Bissex, Eric Schwartz, and others.
In 1999, Corby released a live CD entitled Live at the Prodigal Son, receiving radio airplay across the country. In May 2000, Corby had the distinct honor of performing on the Main Stage at the Kerrville Folk Festival (in Kerrville, TX) as a New Folk Finalist.
Fireworks in March was produced by legendary guitarist John Platania, who has toured and recorded with Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, and Natalie Merchant, and has produced albums for Guy Davis, Lisa McCormick and Amy Fradon. The album features a fine duet with Jimmy LaFave and guest performances by Kevin So, Eric Schwartz & Rachel Bissex.
